Every figure we publish is traced to a named source document. Our full method is set out in How we source spec data.
Why this site exists
Most vehicle specifications online have been copied so many times that the configuration has fallen off them. You find a single towing number attached to an entire model year, with no mention of cab, bed length, engine, drivetrain or axle ratio — the five things that actually determine the answer.
That gap costs people money. A buyer who orders a truck on a headline tow rating and discovers at delivery that their build tops out several thousand pounds lower has made an expensive, irreversible decision on bad data.
Feature and Fit publishes specifications the way manufacturers publish them: by configuration. If a number changes with the axle ratio, we show it by axle ratio. If a dimension differs between cab styles, we show both. Where a figure cannot be traced to a source document, we leave it out rather than estimate it.
What we cover
This site handles the questions people ask before they buy: specifications by trim, payload and towing by configuration, interior and exterior dimensions, bed and cargo measurements, powertrain options, package contents, and whether a given part, accessory or load will fit a given build.
We deliberately do not cover ownership problems, diagnostics or repair costs here. That work belongs to our sister publication, The Throttle Times, so that each site stays focused on one stage of the ownership cycle.
Our first published cluster covers the Ford F-150, beginning with F-150 specs by configuration, 2021–2026.
How every article is researched
The same four steps run on every article, without exception.
Pull the primary document
We start from the manufacturer’s own published material for that exact model year — order guides, dealer ordering documentation, press-kit specification sheets and technical bulletins. Never from another website’s table.
Cross-check against federal records
Fuel economy, emissions class, safety ratings and recall history are verified independently against US government databases, which are published on a different schedule than manufacturer material and frequently catch mid-year revisions.
Rebuild the table by configuration
Every figure is re-entered against the specific build it belongs to: cab style, bed length, engine, drivetrain, axle ratio and optional packages. Nothing is averaged, rounded or carried across trims.
Review before publishing
A second member of the team checks every number in the finished article against the source document. Any figure that cannot be confirmed is removed and marked as unavailable rather than estimated.
This is slower than aggregating, and it is the reason we publish fewer articles than sites of comparable age.
Where the data comes from
Our primary and reference sources, and what each is used for:
- Ford Media Center Manufacturer specification sheets, order guide data and model-year announcements
- FuelEconomy.gov EPA-rated fuel economy and emissions data by engine and drivetrain
- NHTSA Crash test ratings, recall records and safety complaint data
- IIHS Independent crashworthiness and crash avoidance evaluations
- SAE International Standardised test procedures, including SAE J2807 for tow ratings
The full sourcing hierarchy, including how we handle conflicts between manufacturer and federal figures, is documented in How we source spec data.
Who writes this
Feature and Fit is produced by an editorial team of seven working from Risali, in Chhattisgarh, India. Every article on this site covers the United States market, and we think you should know that at the outset.
It shapes what we will and will not claim. We do not write road impressions, dealer negotiation advice or regional ownership experience, because we do not have that experience. What we do is documentary work: locating the primary specification record for a given build, verifying it against independent federal data, and presenting it in a form you can actually use. Every figure on this site can be traced back to a document we can name.
That is a narrower claim than a road-test publication makes. It is also one we can stand behind on every number we publish.

Corrections and accuracy
Specifications change mid-model-year, packages are revised, and manufacturer documentation is occasionally revised after release. When we find an error — or when a reader reports one — we correct the article and note what changed and when.
If you have found a figure on this site that does not match the source document, write to contact@featureandfit.com and tell us which article and which number. Please include the document you are comparing against if you have it. We treat reader corrections as a priority, not a complaint.
Our review process, bylines, funding and correction handling are described in full in our Editorial policy. Important limits on how our specification data should be used are set out in our Disclaimer — in short, confirm any figure with a dealer before you commit to a purchase.
How this site is funded
Feature and Fit is funded by display advertising and, on some pages, affiliate links. Advertising is served by third parties and has no influence on which vehicles we cover or what we publish about them. Where a link earns us a commission, that is disclosed on the page. Our full position is set out in our Affiliate disclosure.
