The Correct Silverado 1500 Trim Levels for 2026 and 2027

Silverado 1500 Trim comparison showing the 2026 and 2027 lineups

Which Silverado 1500 trim list are you shopping?

The Silverado 1500 trim list changed for 2027, so a trim name on a listing only means something once you know the model year. Cross-shopping new trucks, comparing a used one, or matching a trim to a part all start with the year on the window sticker. This guide sits inside our Silverado 1500 specs by configuration guide.

It covers the nine-trim 2026 lineup and the redesigned seven-trim 2027 lineup. Earlier years are not checked against GM documents here.

ℹ️ Safety Note: Prices and engine figures here are published manufacturer figures for named model years and trims, not promises for a specific truck. Tow ratings depend on your exact build, and exceeding one affects braking and stability, not just performance. Verify against the window sticker, the door-jamb label and the owner’s manual for your VIN before hitching anything.

📍 Check your own vehicle first: Specifications vary by build date, package and market, and two trucks with the same badge can be built differently. Before you buy anything based on this page, confirm against the window sticker or VIN build sheet and the trailering section of the owner’s manual. If your vehicle disagrees with this page, your vehicle is right.

The 2026 trim range spans work equipment, trail hardware, premium materials and dedicated off-road components.

GM does not mention the RST, LTZ or LT Trail Boss, so this guide does not say what replaced them. Trucks are expected on sale at the end of 2026; see Chevrolet’s 2027 page.

Which engine comes with which Silverado trim?

Trim, engine and tow rating are separate choices, and Chevrolet lists the standard engine only for these trims.

Model yearTrimStandard engine
2026Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail BossTurboMax
2026LTZ, High Country5.3L V8
2026ZR2Duramax 3.0L diesel
2027Work TruckEnhanced TurboMax
2027High Country5.7L V8
2027ZR2Duramax 3.0L diesel

Source: Chevrolet’s 2026 and 2027 pages. The ZR2’s engine changed by year: the 2022 announcement lists a standard 6.2L V-8. Chevrolet’s 2027 page names the engine for only some trims, so ask about the rest.

🔍 What This Spec Means: GM’s 2027 table lists the 5.7L V8, not the 6.6L, as the maximum-tow engine, and only for a Double Cab, standard-bed, 2WD truck with Max Trailering. A trim name tells you none of that.

✅ Do This: Ask the dealer for the tow rating listed for your exact VIN and check it against the owner’s manual; see towing capacity by engine.

Trim-name traps when you read a listing

Four wording problems make a listing read wrong.

  • Z71 is a package, not a trim. GM lists Z71 as standard on the 2027 Silverado 4WD, and lists the Z71 Off-Road Package on the 2026 Custom Trail Boss.
  • A 2027 listing that says LT, RST or LTZ does not match GM’s 2027 list.
  • The ZR2’s standard engine depends on the year: 6.2L V-8 for 2022, Duramax diesel for 2026 and 2027.
  • Listings that say “Limited” or “LD” fall outside the years checked here; confirm the model year on the sticker.

How to confirm your own truck’s trim

Four documents settle the question for one truck.

  1. Read the trim name and option codes on the window sticker or VIN build sheet.
  2. Match those codes to the dealer’s order guide for the model year.
  3. Check equipment names in the owner’s manual, available from Chevrolet’s Manuals and Guides page.
  4. If a listing and the sticker disagree, the sticker and VIN build record win.

✅ Do This: Ask any seller for a photo of the window sticker before you travel to see the truck.
